It is 'dyr' /tI:r/, but indeed from 'deus', yes. :-)
Something like:
deus > *deuz > *djuz > *djuR > **djyR > *dyR > dyr
It has irregular inflection (one of the most irregular ones so far, I
think):
sg.nom. dyr < deus
acc. djú < deum
dat. djó < deo:
gen. dí < dei:
pl.nom. dí < dei/dii
acc. djær < deos
dat. dír < deis/diis
gen. djór < deorum
