In the RPoidal English they taught us in school, we were told to pronounce alot
of |e|'s as [I]; canonical example "ickonomy". Being a lazy sort, I've gone
pack to pronouncing [E] and [I] based on spelling (thus "eckonomy" and
differentiating 'tween "ensure" and "insure").
My English dictionary gave both pronunciations for 'economy', but it has since
fallen to pieces. :(
