Well, actually I can't, since I've never understood anything at the
descriptions on how to install LyX on Windows (IIRC you also have to install an
X-Windows to get it running. It's just plain hell!). As for simply installing
LaTeX (and TeX, for the allergic ones :)) ) on Windows, I have just one
instruction: go to www.miktex.org. With this distribution, not only the
installation but the package updating are automated!

Plain TeX? I've never managed to understand a thing of it! At least LaTeX is
user-friendly :)) . It probably limits a bit the possibilities of TeX in this
way, but my needs are pretty basic so that's not a problem :)) .
