Some US states allow one to be married even earlier. Kansas and
Massachusetts, for example, both allow a girl as young as 12 to get
married with parental consent (18 without parental consent).
Mississippi allows a girl as young as 15 to get married without parental
consent.
Some states also allow "marriage by proxy", where someone can stand in
for you at the ceremony. :-) Altho, why one would choose not to attend
their own wedding, I'm not sure. :-)
