I thought that was not right also. I have never learned to say "I want to
go" by using "Quiero que vaya". From the subjunctive I learned in high
school (we haven't come upon subjunctive just yet), the subjunctive is
used for hopes, desires, etc for other people, not yourself (sorry, i cant
put that all into words well).
