THEORY: Use of Ligatures and the Trigger System in Tagalog

Hi all,
       ever since I learned a little Tagalog a while ago (which I would
like to continue after my visit to France is over and I can stop
relearning French) I've been thinking about the function of Ligatures
(which confused me deeply) and the trigger system in the language and
I've kindof got a sketch of a theory in my head that closely relates the
two and tries to explain them. The only problem is that I can't fit it
to some of the examples in my books at the moment... I'm trying to adapt
it to fit all rather than some of the examples, but if anyone knows
anything already written that bears on the subject I'd be grateful for
references. I don't want to waste my time writing something someone's
already written. Or writing something that's completely wrong. :)
