Re: Workshops Review from Yitzik the Snakie

Dear colleagues!
I see the idea of workshops raise quite a storm in our nice circle. That's
not good.
I would have replied earlier, but some force-majeur circumstances (my
sickness and Wednesday fire in our appartment house resulted in 28 hours
without electricity) prevented me from posting.

Now I see that colleagues Jan van Steenbergen and Eamon Graham expressed
ideas that I can sign as my own, saying:

<<<not all subgroups are silly or ridiculous. Especially
Romanceconlang and Celticonlang are well-functioning groups and valuable
sources of information.>>>

<<<East Asian Conlangs is small
(18-19 people), but I've received a lot of help from the people
there, some of whom are not on CONLANG. As far as trafic is
concerned, some people's messages fall through the cracks, so to
speak, and it sometimes helps to discuss on the smaller groups.

But, in the end, I truly feel that nothing will ever replace
CONLANG, and no matter how many specialised groups we have, this
will always be home base. I know we all appreicate this forum, the
people on it and our intrepid list manager. :) >>>

I could not say better and fully agree with respected colleagues.
The workshops are NOT intended to split our dear CONLANG-L, neither to
substitute it. They are additional tools for more specified discussions, and
nothing more. They do not cover the whole range of conlang types. If some
new be necessary, they will surely appear. But CONLANG *shall* be one and
only basic place for wider international conlangers community.

And, certainly, being the list owner of West Asian Conlang group, I am not
responsible of what is happening in the other groups. Mine is NOT
alternative. The reviews I started giving, are my good will and NOT a
challenge.

With best regards,
always glad to communicate for mutual benefit,
Isaac A. Penzev (aka Yitzik)
