Holi, it's called. (Or however it's spelled; I hear it pronounced with one
of those weird Gujarati liquids that sounds like perhaps a retroflex
lateral.) I forget the significance; I think it may have originated in one
of the Krishna tales. All the redness flying around makes me think it's a
fertility rite.
