I'm not sure, but I think that something meaning "possession" must exist in Itakian. But "to have" is not the only "missing" verb of Itakian. Itakian lacks "to be" (it uses nominal sentences instead), "to go" and "to come" (it does have verbs for the manner of moving, like "walk", "run", "swim", etc... though). If you want to say "I go to the field", you simply say "I to the field", that's to say a nominal sentence with a prepositional phrase.

I still have to work on those things, but here again it seems that Itakian does strange things (it seems for instance that things like "also", "again" are verbs in Itakian - as well as quite a few other "adverbs" - while "must", "can", "want", etc... are translated by noun phrases (like some languages translate "I want" as "my heart") :))) ). Anyway, Itakian is quite a monster :)) . Christophe. http://rainbow.conlang.free.fr Take your life as a movie: do not let anybody else play the leading role.
