Appears in Quenya as _lintë_ "swift (pl)" - singular presumeably *_linta_,
tho' not to my knowledge anywhere attested.
In this case, my _lamatyáve_ ("sound-taste" as JRRT would've said) agrees
more with Tolkien's than with yours - /lint/ does feel like something small
and quick to me.
