My Arabic-German Langenscheidt uses tildes in the IPA for each of the
emphatic /s/, /t/, /z/, and the /d/ has a horizonal bar through the vertical.
I use my own personal system for Arabic, in which those letters are <c>, <z>,
<Z>, and <C>. They're all called "velarisiertes".
