Unfortunately we have not a scrap of Frisian before about the 14th century, when we get a lot of it (mostly legal documents); so-called "Old Frisian" is really "Middle" by the standards of the other Germanic languages. We can make a few guesses based on Frisian place names and words in Latin documents and the like. -- Knowledge studies others / Wisdom is self-known; John Cowan Muscle masters brothers / Self-mastery is bone; jcowan@reutershealth.com Content need never borrow / Ambition wanders blind; www.ccil.org/~cowan Vitality cleaves to the marrow / Leaving death behind. --Tao 33 (Bynner)
