It might be seen as somewhat strange, but I'm not sure about unacceptable. I do recall seeing ads in the Metro (several years ago) for "computadoras", but this may be a swing towards the more universal term. I think what we'd need is a good list of _common_ words that are not only different between Old and New Worlds, but that people on one side or the other would not be expected to know. Like "overtake" v. "pass", or "flat" v. "apartment". [Until the explosive advent of British tele on PBS in America, most Leftpondians would not be expected to know what those British words mean.]
