Older Swedish is easier than one might think. Of course, many
of the old Swedish words have been replaced for newer German,
French and English ones, and there are a bunch of false friends,
but other than that it's no chore. Try this:
(From "S:t Yrjan" written in Vadstena around 1440).
"Oc j siønum bodhe een stoor rædhelikin draki, hwilkin mykyt
folk drap, oc engin kunde han fordærfwa. The, j stadenom bygdo,
skuldo hwar dagh gifwa drakanom tw faar til fødho. Oc naar the
thet ekke giordho, tha drap han folkit oc aath..."
Luckily, there are no dragons anymore... I think... OTOH there
are no S:t Yrjans either.
