While I don't know any conversational Swedish, I
have picked up the occasional utterly useless
word by listening to Swedish folk songs. I have
a CD of them with the original words and English
translations nicely laid out in the cover sheet,
and I can actually sing along in Swedish to some
of the slower songs.
It's a pretty language (even if it does have
too many vowels), and from what I know of the
grammar probably one of the easiest languages
for an English speaker to learn. Also, when I
want to invent a word for Gz^rod|in, Welsh and
Swedish are foremost among the languages I
look to for inspiration (via online
dictionaries).
