It does do a random fractal surface (Very realistic) The programs creator
says you can in fact create surface maps and import them into the program.
I havent tried it, so it would be wise to email the creator about it and
inquire about doing that (the program is in alpha/beta phase). You can
also import real surface maps, but you have to change these to a .TER file
(the programs own file extention) so the program can use them. There is an
option that you can draw in landforms, but the results are very smooth
round shapes. I tested it out a few weeks ago and made a crater lake.
Anyway, its pretty good for very convincing landscapes in general (better
than other programs, like bryce)
