Been a while since I've posted, or actively read these for that matter.
But I just happened to read Sai's link last week to the google video of the
conference. Great stuff! As someone who hasn't actively conlanged for a year or
two, I felt myself being re-... er... not sure what the correct morpheme
ishere. reinvigorated, perhaps? Rekindled? Reinspired... that's it! I'm so glad
this was taped and put on line! While I enjoyed all the talks, and may go back
and watch some a second time, I thought I'd share my $0.02. For someone who
wasn't present, and thus didn't have the handouts, programs, etc..., the
presentations with powerpoint were a lot more interesting (i.e. Cognitive
Linguistics and WP Morphology). I don't know if this was strictly because they
had power-point, or if they just happened to be topics that I found more
interesting at the time. I do know that several times during the
non-power-point-enabled presentations, I found myself wondering what was being
said. Especially when a program or handout was being referred to. Are these
availa!
ble somewhere?
I also found Sai's rather abstract talk quite fascinating, although I'm not sure
I'm sold on the concept of a NLF2DWS for a conlang -- certainly not a natlangy
conlang. On the other hand, as a computer scientist, I've often found that a
picture is worth a thousand lines of code... (more info on this sent directly
to Sai).
It remains to be seen whether this rekindled spark will last or not.
