Well, the only connection I have to H.P. Lovecraft is Metallica's "Call
of Ktulu", but to the phoneme question, consider Hawaiian, with the following
phonemes: /h/, /p/, /k/, /?/, /a/, /e/, /i/, /o/, /u/, /v/, /l/, /m/ and /n/.
That's only thirteen; how small is this languages inventory?
