Well, I'm not sure which Latin word is the origin of "ou"/"oul'" (I think it is "illum", or something like that). I just like the way Galician and Portuguese say "the": they use "o", "os", "a" and "as". I maintained the femenine unchanged ("a", "as"), and converted "o" into "ou". The use of the "l" before vowels or "h", so these articles become "oul'" and "al'", is introduced because I didn't like how it sounded without the "l". "Oul'" resembles the Spanish "el" or the Italian "il", although "al'" does not resemple Spanish/French/Italian "la" (I added the "l" just for coherence with the masculine).
