Yup, it means "lots of" or "a lot of". It's not that common,
but it's not particularly rare either. Like John said, it has a bit
of a 1960s flavor to me - specifically the early 1960s, when there
was still some of the 1950s hanging on before the Revolution hit.
My mom uses it, and she was a teenager in the late 50s/early 60s.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear "boocoo" in Hollywood movies of
that period; maybe I'll go back and watch some - "Down with Love"
has me in the mood for them anyway. :)
