If I remember rightly from Russian class, /Ze/ is an emphatic
particle.  Works like "did" in a sentence like:

English: I *did* write it!
Russian: ja *Ze* nOpisal_j eto!

But also works to just intensify statements, so you could say,
"Leave me alone!", and then add a /Ze/ for emphasis.

That was my impression.
