A technical question about the list

I wonder if the powers that be have ever given any
thought to formating this gathering of minds as an
online forum along the lines of these:
http://www.physlink.com/Community/Forums/index.cfm
http://www.childpastlives.org/vBulletin/
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/
They have the advanage that they don't get closed
because of high traffic, discussions can be organized
by general subject and segregated by topic and the
structure of the discussion group allows for FAQ's and
reference materials to remain readily at hand.
Discussion groups can also allow embedded images in
the text as well as hyperlinks and formatting control
that enables bold, italics, large fonts, colored
fonts, etc. in formatting a posting.
I'm a member of about half a dozen such discussion
groups and a moderator on a couple of them, and they
seem to work a lot more smoothly and conveniently than
this list, which, technologically, seems so 20th
century. :)
Plus, the volunteer moderators keep things running
smoothly and do a good job of keeping out flame wars
and spam. It's something to think about. Take a look
at some of the groups I linked to above and I think
you'll see the advantages.
