Okay, here's another "doubtful nice idea":

i always thought that _tikhon_ meant "upper", so "high school" would be
translated as "high school"....i think this idea came from seeing a map
somewhere of the Biblical Period, which labeled the Persian Gulf
something like ha-Yam ha-Tahhton, making it "lower" and the mediterranean
"upper".
