please, contribute!
as for "conventions"...you'll find that the conventions may appear
arbitrary.
(for example, many people say that various sounds are represented in
X-Sampa, which itself makes overarching generalizations (i.e., how many
ways are there for Britons to pronounce "thought", for example).
have fun - that's the important part of conlanging.
