First off, I'm sorry that my reply has taken so long, but y'know, the Real
Life ... I think I've always been more interested in language-related stuff than
into figures, but only Mark Rosenfelder's Language Construction Kit
(zompist.com/kit.html) has got me into conlanging.
That said, I am certainly no linguistics wiz and I could learn more about
linguistics by reading all the papers and grammars I once downloaded because
the topics seemed interesting, but most of them are quite difficult to read so
that I lose track and interest after a couple of pages usually :-| That still
doesn't stop me from conlanging, though. Looking up specific information about
some feature, OK, but reading papers just because doesn't work for me
somehow. Well well ...
