According to what I remember from "Teach Yourself Icelandic" (assuming that I've correctly interpreted their examples) they'd be something like this: (note: when two phonemes are given, the second is the "long" form--that is, when syllable-final or followed by one consonant.) a = [a] [a:] a' = [aU] ae = [aI] e = [E] [E:] e' = [jE] i, y = [I] [I:] i', y' = [i:] o = [O] [O:] o' = [OU] o" = [oe] (Open mid front rounded vowel) u = [Y] [u:] u' = [u:] au = [oeI] (See above--what is this in ASCII?) ei, ey = [EI] I think this is correct but, of course, we really ought to ask Ferenc about this one...Hey, Ferke!
