Common = natural and easy to use. Wouldn't it be interesting to build a conlang using only the most common sounds and the most common grammatical structures. My own personal preference is for "nice" sounding conlangs. I find, as I listen to other langauges being spoken, that the sounds, and the way the sounds flow together attract me more than the fine points of grammar. Would that any common phrase in my conlang sounded like a well crafted piece of poetry ... If I could attain that goal it wouldn't bother me at all to find that my grammar turns out to be just like English grammar, or German grammar, or whatever. One grammar is as good as another, and (for me at least) the nature of that grammar is irrelevant. As long as it sounds good and flows like the tintinabulation of a delicate windchime on a moderately breezy day. The words should all be words that invite you to speak them over and over just to thrill at their sound. Words like "boozhamBUra", and "shalamOR", and "mogaDAshi". --G.
