One little typographical point. In most languages using the
Latin alphabet, a diaeresis when marking the fact that two vowels
are not a diphthong is placed on the second vowel, not the
first. There is one natlang exception that I know of (but
I can't remember what it is :-) ). JRRT also didn't
consistently do this in romanizing Quenya.
If you are using the diaeresis to mark something other than
separation, as German does, of course this point has no force.
