Well, in fast speech /ew/ (which is how that ending should be pronounced)
does tend to get reducted to "u"
so "eu arvou" tends to be said more like "/u ar'vo:/"
But, i'm thinking that when the two were combined, the /w/ was lost and
the forms became the third choice i highlighted. Although....with the
above example, it sounds more plausible that it would be /umi/ instead of
/emi/, but i think i like /emi/ more.
I prefer the third choice (emi, etu, esu, etc) also because they dont give
a good hint as to their exact origin from first glance.
