-tecatl is, so far as I can tell, the way you derive words (nouns?
adjectives?) meaning "from X". So "Xibalbatecatl" would mean "from
Xibalba", or something like that.
I believe it's the source of all the "-tec" words for people down
there: Toltec, Zapotec, Yucatec, Aztec, etc.
