Actually, in this case the French have had this kind of attitude towards
the rest of the world way before the US even existed, so the Americans
actually took it from them rather than the other way round ;)))) (and I was
impersonating the average French guy here - hence the "them" in my reply -).

I still fail to see the difficulties. If I've been able to learn and speak
this language fluently, anyone can ;))) (I know how cheesy this comment is.
But the nice thing is that people usually can't find a good reply to it,
and it applies to any language your L1 is ;))) ).
