Indeed we do.  And believe me, I'd like to see something like that happen to
me!  (Especially as I have no significant other in my life...)

I've tried talking about conlang stuff with my friends, and none of them
really understood why someone would ever want to make up a language - except
for one, though he isn't interested in language himself.
