OT: New computer!!

Hi!  I now have a new Dell computer w/ flat screen, wireless keyboard
& wireless mouse.  Now I'm playing with the grownups!

Problem: I am not computer literate, only knowing what I must know to
do what I want to do.  My problem has to do with Wikifrath.  On my old
computer I was able to use the combining diacritics (e.g., breves over
consonants) and they appeared correct in the saved copy.

On my new computer I only see little boxes after the letters instead of
diacritics.  What must I do to make these combining diacritics once
again visible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but please remember my beginning
level of knowledge.  Simple terms, please!
