I am glad my school doesnt have a swimming pool yet (it's new, that's
why). I would not tell a soul about that tradition! :). Anyway that
reminded me of a 'custom' that we had in high school. On birthdays, guys
(sometimes girls) would get punched in the arm as many times as their age.
If the puncher went over the number,  the birthday boy/girl could sock the
other person in the arm as hard as they wanted. It was horror, people
would end up with big bruises (some people hit hard!). I fortunately
didn't have that happen but I saw it happen to a few people.
