Actually, it is also used in "He's apeshit" or "He was apeshit over this."

strong feelings. For example (overheard in actual use):
A: Bruce is totally apeshit over this game.
B: Good apeshit or bad apeshit?
A: Good apeshit. He's trying to get everybody he knows to play it with him.
