(From "education words" to foods.......) In Indonesia you could buy
(Australian) butter in a can. It kept forever, even at rather warm room
temperature.
A popular souvenir from Makassar was _markisa_ juice-- that's passion-fruit
juice I think, very expensive here. Anyway everyone on the plane from
Makassar back to Java toted along at least 3 or 4 liter-bottles of it.
Unfortunately it did NOT keep at room temp, and would blow its stopper out
after 3-4 days with a frightening bang. At that point it was still
drinkable, mildly alcoholic and pétillant, but once it fermented too far it
was horrible.
