This is a fairly common conlang type, actually. Maybe the best known is Toki Pona, but there are a number of others. John Clifford gave a talk on conlangs of this type to the first Language Creation Conference; I think the video is online. -- Jim Henry http://www.pobox.com/~jimhenry/conlang.htm
