I'm not mach, but those Swedish dialect writers who distinguish an /9/ or /3\/ phoneme from /2/ and /8/ use ô for the open variety (likewise û /8/ vs. u /8\/ [2_w] or [u\] and â /a/ vs. a /A/. Some Danish writers use ø for /2/ and ö for /9/ (tho both sounds are closer than cardinal).
