It is not; "to write" is the verb. The function of the trigger is marked
on the verb rather than on the trigger. I.e., if the trigger is
functioning as an intrument, then you inflect the *verb* for an
instrumental function; if the trigger is functioning as a patient, then
you inflect the *verb* for a patient function.
