To everyone who helped: I think I'll use a grave accent (as in d`, t`) to mark retroflexes. That's the best I can do in ASCII... I don't like using dots, and I can't use apostrophes (') because I'm having glottal stops transliterated that way. And the digraphs you've suggested are mostly used as real clusters in the language.
