I've never tried to learn Esperanto, though many people have told me that I should. I *have* tried to learn a friend's conlang, that he was developing from proto-Latin roots, and I was moderately successful (could write notes in it and keep up a simple conversation). Unfortunately, he was of the school that changes things in their language whenever they learn an interesting new concept, and I couldn't keep up with the changes. Someone wrote me a note in Valdyan once, but he knew Esperanto already and assumed without thinking that Valdyan worked exactly the same way, then was annoyed when I tried to point out that it didn't. A pity, really, because he did show some talent. I can read (not speak) a little Denden, but every time I make up my mind to *really* get down to it something comes up that I want to tackle first. I have what I've heard call "a magpie mind" ;-) Irina Varsinen an laynynay, saraz no arlet rastinay. irina@rempt.xs4all.nl (myself) http://www.xs4all.nl/~bsarempt/irina/index.html (English) http://www.xs4all.nl/~bsarempt/irina/backpage.html (Nederlands)
