Ok. Here's a question that I shall not yet ask in a PIE group, since I first
want to see if it passes a sanity check, and it is after all a work of
fiction at this point.
Given the number of words in PIE with syllable-initial TK^, and the paucity
of other CC onsets, does it seem practical to posit yet another series of
(possibly velar-like) sounds?
In my own notation, I have
p p' ph p0
t t' th t0
c c' ch c0
k k' kh k0
q q' qh q0
x x' xh x0
s
r l
m n
e e: o o:
Where
p0 = u
t0 = i
c = k^ (etc)
c0 = h1
k0 = h2
q = kw (etc)
q0 = h3
x = tk^ (etc)
x0 = some (but not all) instances of s
Joerg, et al, does this look sensible to you? It has become my de-facto
notation from which Thagojian words are derived, but I suppose that does not
preclude it from likelyhood nor unlikelyhood.
Maybe I can see |'|, |h| and |0| being separate phonemes. It might or might
not make the language easier for me to work with. I don't know yet.
