IMHO, more knowledge is always better than less, but what "sombody" said was
that some knowledge is better than other knowledge. If you skip learning the
atomic weights of the more esoteric elements and instead read up a bit extra
on the bonding characteristics of carbon, I think you're far better off.
Whether ambiguity is better or worse than clarity depends TOTALLY on
context.
