AHD gives the PIE etymological source of English "deed", as dheE "to set,
put", more specifically dhe:ti "thing laid down or done, law, deed". Also
dhe:to "set down, created". Also dho:mo "doom, judgement". Also Gothic
do:ms "judgement". Also English deem from Old English de:man "to judge"
from Germanic "do:mjan" from Germanic "do:maz". Also dhEs which gives Latin
fa:s "divine law, right".
