I'm not John and my Salishan collection was sold when I turned away
from Northwest Coast lgs but my recollection is that BC has at least
phonemic schwa and a lot of phonetic epenthetic vowels. Similarly,
there is evidence, mostly unpublished, that Wakashan (at the
proto-level) had no more /a/ with, if memory serves, 12 phonetic vowels
determined by a complex set of insertion rules.
