As in "(rose) mallow."

I say /mov/ as a French import, but other English speakers opt for /mOv/, I always assumed by analogy with words like "cause", "pause", and "gauze" (I understand it, but this particular pronunciation makes me cringe).

I don't do HTML colors, but "mauve" for me is sort of a cross between "rose pink" and "lilac lavender". It's a very mellow color, one of my favorites (second only to royal purple), and I associate it with old ladies, sitting rooms, and lace. Kou
