Oops, i had missed your answer ;). Somehow you're totally right, but neither did
I use Windows as I could. I just need a good email client, Emacs (well, I  just
meant a good editor ;), a word processor with IPA possibilities and a few
linguistics and development tools.
So whichever platform I'd use, I would not use it intensively. :(
