Incidentally, one of my invented recipes involves marinating apples (and
raisins, dried cranberries, dates, almonds, whatever you want) in a mixture
of sweet red wine (kosher wine would work well), allspice, cloves, orange
and lemon peel, cinnamon and some other things, then bake the mixture in a
pie, and finally glaze with honey or caramel. The fruit and wine mixture of
course is known as charoset (or charoses), the traditional Passover
favorite, so this is a type of "charoset pie". (That's why I suggested the
kosher wine.)
I might make this a Techian food item, since at one time a very large number
of Elves were converts to Judaism. Still need a Tech name for this....
I also have an idea for an Elven recipe for leg of lamb rubbed in various
herbs and spices and glazed with honey.
