OT: Apologies [Re: OT: Roman Calendar]

I would like to apologize, to Christophe and the list.
I learned that the original name of the month was "Quinctilis".
At the moment I can't even identify the source from which I learned
this "fact"; nor can I find my copy of the OCY to confirm my memory
of its conttents. For whatever reason it got into my head that it
was correct and "Quintilis" was a later rationalization based on
"quintus". Which it may have been, but if so the rationalization
apparently happened in pre-Classical times.
I'm going to go back to lurking for a while. It seems like every time
I open my keyboard I wind up launching a huge off-topic thread
and/or annoying people and/or in any case having to take back some of my
words. And now I've managed to ruffle the feathers of Christophe
Grandsire, arguably the nicest person on this mailing list.
I am, once again, sorry.
Happy conlanging, all.
