That's not at all surprising, which is why I specified "*our* 'ox'".
For many Murkans, myself included, there's no quality distinction
among LOT, CLOTH, PALM, and THOUGHT, although there may be a
consistent quantity distinction (/pa:m/ vs /Tat/) in some of those
'lects.
